Vivian Marie Cook

(June 1, 1919 - April 29, 2007)

 

Vivian Marie Cook, known to many as "Aunt Viv" daughter of the late Abraham and Susie McMurren Morris, was born on June 1, 1919, in Elizabeth City, North Carolina. She departed this life on Sunday, April 29, 2007 in Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital at the age of 87 years.

She received her Education in Elizabeth City Public School Systems.

Vivian was reared in a Christian home. She joined Olive Branch Missionary Baptist Church at an early age. Later years she joined Kaighn Avenue Baptist Church, Camden, New Jersey where she dedicated her life in serving God.

When she wasn't at home you could find her doing God's work in her church. She diligently served on various clubs and committees, such as Director of the Junior Ushers, President of the Pastor's Aides, President of the Nursing Unit, served as a Senior Usher, Chairperson for Women's Day and finally she served as a Trustee.

She always made certin that the Pastor had a clean robe and shirt for Sunday's Service as well as keeping mints in his candy dish in his office. She loved baking sweet potato pies and frying chicken as well as selling them for fundraisers. You could always find her in the kitchen selling something at Kaighn Avenue?

For over Thirty Years she worked outside of the home for West Jersey Hospital
known today as Virtua Health in Camden, New Jersey. She also worked for the
Board of Education, in Camden City where she was a Lunch Aide.

Vivian Marie Cook was united in matrimony to the late Isaiah Cook in the 1950's.

He preceded her in death. While they were married, they raised nieces and nephews which they called them "Grandma and Grandpa". She also has a niece
named Vivian Marie she sometimes refers to her as her Name Sake.

Mourning her loss are: her Baby Sister, Sarah L. Barnard of Camden, New Jersey.
Nieces, Nephews, Cousins, and a host of Friends.

Her weary hours her days of pain, Her weary nights have passed away. Her ever
patient worn out frame, Has found sweet rest at last.
